Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect during my first session?

Your first session is an opportunity for your therapist to understand your concerns and goals. The therapist will ask questions about your background, mental health history, and what brings you to therapy. This initial meeting helps establish a treatment plan tailored to your needs. The focus is on creating a comfortable, safe environment for open conversation.

How do payments work, and do you accept insurance?

We are out of network and do not accept insurance. We suggest you contact your insurance carrier to inquire about out of network benefits. We will provide you with a detailed receipt (a “superbill”), which you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Coverage varies depending on your insurance, so we encourage you to contact them directly to discuss your out-of-network benefits.

Payment for sessions can be made via credit card, debit card, cash, check or electronic transfer at the time of service.

What are CPT codes, and why do I need them?

CPT codes (Current Procedural Terminology codes) are used by healthcare providers to describe the services rendered during your session. These codes are important for insurance claims and billing. The most common CPT codes for therapy include:

  • 90791: Initial evaluation session
  • 90834: Individual therapy (45 minutes)
  • 90837: Individual therapy (60 minutes)
  • 90847: Family therapy with the patient present
  • 90846: Family therapy without the patient present

Your superbill or invoice will include these codes for insurance reimbursement purposes.

What is a Good Faith Estimate (GFE)?

Under the No Surprises Act, all healthcare providers are required to provide a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) to uninsured and self-pay patients. This estimate outlines the expected costs of therapy services before treatment begins, ensuring transparency in pricing. If you would like a GFE for your therapy, please request one, and we will be happy to provide it.
